I painted this in a very snowy and wintry period in England. On dark nights, I found it comforting to see lights on in houses and offices as the inside of these spaces became more interesting, inviting and warm, especially when the weather outside was so bleak. This painting makes reference to this and the fact that ultimately we are very similar in that we all need shelter, light, warmth and company for us to be able to prosper.
